2024 Broker Council Recap
What an incredible two days we spent with 35 of our top brokers at ISC’s Broker Council in May in Louisville, Kentucky, at the 21C Hotel and Art Museum. During our first evening on the 22nd, our staff and brokers enjoyed an evening of bourbon tasting at Evan Williams Bourbon, Kentucky’s first distillery, on the bank of the Ohio River, where we learned all about bourbon distilling and production. The bourbon tasting was followed by a great meal at Jeff Ruby’s Steakhouse, just a short distance from Evan Williams in downtown Louisville.
A Day of Inspirational and Informative Guest Speakers
The Broker Council conference was held the following day in the atrium of the 21C Hotel and Art Museum. This fantastic venue displays curated rotating exhibitions and commissioned site-specific installations at each hotel location. The roster of speakers kicked off with Lyle Donan, whose expertise is highly sought after for his forensic knowledge and experience in insurtech and proptech. A dynamic speaker, Lyle spoke on insuring bourbon production and the risks involved.
Next on the speaker roster was Alex Rankin, chairman of the board of Louisville-based insurance firm Sterling G. Thompson Company and Churchill Downs, Inc., a horse-racing complex in south Louisville. He provided some background on Churchill Downs’ history, horse racing, and horse breeding.
New York Times best-selling author Tahl Raz’s discussion of emotional intelligence as the thread connecting successful business entrepreneurs in many industries and fields resonated with everyone.
Following Tahl, Giovani Bernard, son of Haitian immigrants and a former running back for the Cincinnati Bengals, spoke about the hardships in his early life and how this fueled his determination to succeed. Giovani signed footballs and photographs for us all.
In the atrium, we had looped videos on ISC’s different data and technology platforms and information about our 30-plus programs.
Off to the Races
After the sessions, we headed to Churchill Downs, where we had a private seating area above the finish line. Two handicappers taught us the art of horse betting. The fourth race was named “ISC Broker Appreciation.” Mitch Jawitz, EVP of ISC Sales, Craig Moss, VP of Paramount, and some brokers were invited to the winner’s circle to present the winning trophy to the jockey and horse.

Broker Feedback
One of the most valuable aspects of the Broker Council is the feedback we receive from our brokers. We reviewed the feedback from last year and how we addressed the various issues we discussed. We’ll do the same next year as we review the feedback we received during the conference and provide an update at our event in 2025.
Platinum Circle 2025
And, speaking of next year, our Broker Council will be the inaugural ISC Platinum Circle we recently announced. The Platinum Circle will take place May 7 to 11 in Costa Rica. Brokers who reach the specific production goals will be eligible to join us in celebrating the milestones we achieve together. Platinum Circle members will enjoy an all-expense-paid trip for two for four nights and five days at the luxury resort El Mangroove Golfo De Papagayo. Check out our video for more information and production details on becoming a member of the Platinum Circle.
